I Love Dad & Mum

this weekend was exceptionally great...cos i spent alot of time wif Daddy & Mummy & Princess...we were out for Indian cuisine at Ras Indian Restaurant located at Clark Quay...been there..tasted the food a couple of times but yet to bring Daddy & Mummy to try...cos we were mostly out as a family of 8..Jaina, Des & Tereave dun take spicy food...so anyway...we had some giant papadum and chicken samosa for starters...yummy!!! our main course was some typical indian dishes...prawn masala...chicken tikka curry...grilled fish tandoori...dal...together wif rice and naan (plain/garlic)...dinner was very good...only feedback from Daddy & Mummy...portions were a little small...

as it was still too early for our next programme...we were strollin along Clark Quay...decided to have some coffee at The Coffee Club...smoking table of cos...as usual...Princess ended ordering the most xpensive coffee (some Javanese coffee tat costs S$7) amongst us...hahaha...Daddy jus had a regular black coffee...Mummy ordered the Ice Mocha Vanilla...i was going for the new recommended...Ice Blackberry Coffee...it been quite a while since i last had a really good chat wif Daddy and Mummy...so coffee break was really good :)

Childhood Fears??

as usual...wa tuning in to my fav station, Class 95.0 morning express on my way to work this morning...Glenn Ong and FD did their usual stuff...arguing over issues...funny guys...never seem to agree wif their viewpoints...so anyway..."are parents forcing their kids to learn music" was the topic of discussion...listeners were asked to text their response in...and surprisingly all messages seemed to suggest they all agreed tat parents are forcing their kids to learn some musical instruments...

Glenn's viewpoint: parents should force their kids to learn (kids naturally only wan to play...they prob dun knoe wats good for them until they r old enuf to realise it themselves..by then...they could be in their 30s...)

FD's viewpoint: parents should not force their kids to learn (forcing kids to do wat they dun like will make them hate those things...they will only do it for the sake of doing...jus to please their parents without genuine appreciation...)

this topic kinda remind me of my childhood...i was sent to Yamaha Music School whn i was 7...started learnin organ...completed the courses...thn my parents got me a piano teacher to coach me...after completin Grade 1..they bought me a piano...thus i was "forced" into completing my course...wanted to drop out after Grade 3 but becos i felt obliged they bought me a piano...i dragged myself thru the rest of the grades until i reach the final grade...couldn take it anymore...and it was in the midst of preparing my "O"s...i finally made up my mind to stop...

other thn music lessons...i had art lessons, swimming classes, martial arts, tuitions for almost all subjects...could hardly breathe...back then...i was really envious of my frens...all the time in the world for them to play...obviously...becos none of them had such "busy schedules" as a kid...didnt hate my parents for doin tat...jus felt tat i didnt enjoy my childhood...hmmm...mayb tats the reason y i m always actin childish...haha :)

now tat i m 30...if u ask me...i will reply as follows:

"i wan to thank my parents for wat they have done for me. its becos they made me thru those classes:
Music - i m so musically inclined now tat i can impress gals wif both my voice and piano (very rusty now though...needs lots of practice)
Art - if u peeps have seen my new place & the many paintings i did...u will agree wif me tat the art lessons paid off
Swimming & Taekwando - i had a super relaxed time during NS...wat else is ther to learn when i m oredi a black-belter and have a life-saving cert? each time i see the rest of my squad mates punished wif knucle push-ups...i tell myself "heng ah"...

wif all the benefits tat i have reaped...i cant thank my parents enuf...suffered during childhood but enjoy the adulthood...its all worth it!!!"

so kids out ther...if u wanna start blamin ur parents for "forcing" u into takin up lessons...do tat when u r 30..when u realise tat all ur "sufferings" during childhood didnt pay off...otherwise...better start appreciatin wat they have done for u now!!!

Lost & Found

anyone of u peeps usin FACEBOOK?? jus like Friendster..its a network engine...for me...wat seemingly appears to be a tool for hooking up wif new frens now became my compass in search of my lost frens...over a spend of 5 days...i located some 10 odd secondary schoolmates...whom i have not contacted for over the past 14 years...hey! its not my fault...had 2 keep up wif the techno advancement...constantly upgradin my mobile...in the process...dropped off many contacts along the way...u knoe...esp whn u have to go thru the hassle of transferin the contacts to ur new mobile...i mean we r tokin bout 100 to 200 contacts man!! so anyway...in the midst of my quest in search of lost Gabrielites...i found him...or rather...he found me. OMG! my secondary school classmate, my "full of nonsence" kaki, my porn buddy, Weng Hong...did the usual thingy...goin thru his profile...not much write-up bout his life story though...was laughing away at his pics my colleagues thought i was crazy...not tat he look stupid or something...jus cannot contain the excitment..i mean we haven met for 14 years...and now he's married...puttin on abit of weight and all...its damn funny :)

guess wat? i met him up last evening for dinner and drinks...at Tampines Mall/Century Square...he's here wif his wife to attend some training for 6 days...apparently its for their personal development...hmmm...dun ask me wats tat? i know...typical us will never do it...we hardly even have time for proper sleep...geez...jus wat's he thinkin?? anyway...his wife was wif 2 other frens..arranged to watch "Sex in the City"...sorry i forgot their names...so we had a quick bite at MOS Burger...thn its jus me and Weng Hong...do wat guys do best...find a coffee joint...order our fav coffee...sit down shake legs talk cock...wat else...for some reason...maybe its becos of the rain...jus couldn find a place amongst the crowd to rest our butts...decided to move off...and landed ourselves at East Coast Park...HongKong Cafe...less crowded...found ourselves a smoking table...ordered our drinks...yuan yang (coffee tea mix) plus cigarettes...wat else can we ask for...spent the next few hours updatin each other bout our lives (very very summarised version) for the past 14 years...before we head home...

nothin changed...not referring to our looks of cos...but the way we comm...still jokin around and chattin...like we jus finished our "O"s yesterday...okok...abit exaggeratin...but the feelin was really good...seriously...really glad to hear tat he's doin well in his career and marriage...keep in touch bro..take carez...i will definately look for u whn i m in KL...free accomodation mah...hahaha :o

so peeps...if u r oso in search of ur lost contacts...jus like me...join FACEBOOK!!!

Sun: princess went to meet her "sisters" to tailor make their dresses...and had lunch wif them at Peach Garden..yum yum...but i was in dreamland until 2 plus pm...beri beri tired...thn Mummy decided to try on her evening gown (to be used at my wedding)...very nice...obviously...i chose the gown...princess came to pick us up to meet our appointment wif bridal shop for selection of fotos..yippie!!! so excited :) went thru 100 odd photos...looks ok...no "wow" feeling though...prob becos its jus raw footage without any photoshop edit yet...had 2 make our selection of 30 best shots for our wedding album...beri tough choice cos it means we had to give up on alot of nice pics *sad*...anyway...we ended up selecting 40...haha...and spent additional S$750 for the 10 additional pics...thn we bought my favourite prata home to eat...wad a weekend...

Legend of Muay Thai

The Contender Asia... ring a bell? familiar? Singapore organised The Contender Asia to gather the best Muay Thai fighters from around the world to compete...for a prize of cos...USD$150,000..WOW!!!! anyway...The Contender Asia is now aired on Channel 5 every Thursday at 11pm...catch it if u can...

i have been following the show for a couple of weeks now...kinda addicted...No! its not exaggerating cos i have been wanting to learn Muay Thai in my younger days...didnt get the opportunity cos mummy refused to let me take up this "violent" martial art...so i got stuck wif Taekwando instead :) watching this show triggered some eager nerves in me...the same feeling...the familiar urge of learning Muay Thai...haunt me once again!!!

for peeps who have no idea wat Muay Thai is? well...here's a little intro so u know wat i m blogging from here...who knows...u may be inspired to be the next Contender...hahahaha!!!!

Muay Thai originated as a martial-art style used as a defensive and offensive weapon of war. Muay Thai has been practised by the Thai people for hundreds of years. The tradition have been passed down through generations as with most ancient self defense. In the ring, before the fighters commence their fierce battle...there is a pre-fight ceremony called Wai Khru in which fighters will pay respect to their teachers, mentors or parents, and their opponents. Fighters will display their techniques while performing this ritual. For some fighters, this is another way of warm up and the perfect opportunity to study their opponents, while for others, Wai Khru represents deep spiritual beliefs to prepare their mind and body for the competition.

Every fighter wears a traditional headband, called Mongkol and an armband, called Prajiad on their biceps, believed to bring good luck to the competition. Trust me peeps...looks super cool on the fighters!!!

few days back managed to chance upon a blog site...belongs to Sean Wright...one of the competitors in The Contender Asia...very interesting write-ups and life story of his...sharing his experience of being a Muay Thai fighter...winning competitions and all...now i m communicatin wif him via email...in pursuit of my dreams to train in Thailand...hopefully to be a Muay Thai fighter one day...hopefully not too old by thn...hahaha....by the way...i bought a pair of Muay Thai boxing shorts during my last visit to Bangkok...looks super cool...think i m moving in the right direction....HAHAHAHAHA!!!! so peeps...do not b too stunned one day u see me in the ring!!!! WATCH OUT for my fists and kicks!!! :p

my new Idol...Sean Wright (facing us in the photo)...from Scotland....

U ARE THE ONE

woohoo!!! Icaru 袁帅 (yuan shuai) was crowned "U Are The One" champion last night...for those of u who dun have a clue who the hell he is or wat the hell this competition is all bout...got some pics of him from his blog...and no...i m not a fan of his...U Are The One is a talent search for Channel U's Fresh Face of the Year! A person that personifies the station's qualities, the winner of U ARE THE ONE stands to win not only the title but $25,000 cash too! A total of 16 contestants will compete each week based on different themes and challenges. The score is based on 50% judges' score and 50% SMS votes. The top scorer for the week will be the thematic champion and this will give additional points to his or her total score in the competition. 8 finalists will proceed to the Grand Final where 1 male and 1 female champion will be crowned. The two of them will compete again and 1 overall champion will be crowned at the end of the grand final.

So anyway...congrats to 袁帅 ! Well deserving champion!!!!

simple boyish face..maybe a little talent...he can dance, sing, juggle bottles, display martial arts, speaks super well...wats so deserving u may ask?? my personal take on this...2 reasons y he emerge as champion...

Reason 1: SINCERITY AND HARDWORK

A website was set up for all the contestants...with their own space each to blog bout themselves...must say...he's the most hardworking one...he will share wif his fans everything bout himself...from his family...to his personal life...to his inner thoughts...irregardless how tired or how late it is after his tight schedules of rehearsals...distinctly separated himself from his other competitors...which explains his very HUGE fan base !!!!

Managed to catch some episodes of the competition. I have to admit tat its not an easy competition...and i thought he handled the judges really well in the Q&A session...remembered one instance when he was asked 你觉得你阳光吗? (it was delibrate becos he's always cool-looking without much smile and the theme was "sunshine boy")...his response??

我觉得我是冬天里的阳光 只要有一点点就可以暖到心里面

POWER answer!!!! i was very impressed!! 100% certain i'm not the only one who was impressed! His hardwork and sincerity in his performances pulled alot of votes...explains why he was thematic champion for 3 themes...WOW!!!

Reason 2: POLITICAL

If you were the management of Channel U...do you think u will wan a Singaporean or Chinese National to emerge champion?? from a business angle tat is...with a Singaporean as Channel U's Fresh Face u will probably pull in 3 million viewers...with a Chinese National...OMG!!!! imagine the amount of viewers...

wat better way to enter China market :)

watever the reason maybe...its jus my personal view...so once again...BIG congrats to 袁帅 !!!
Cheers :p
